Using the best selling Melissa Frances Calendar mini album as the base, this class will focus on decorating the cover to make a beautiful keepsake book. There are so many things you could do with this album: use it as a ‘dates-to-remember’ book, use it as a planner, or even use it as a yearbook containing the photos and keepsakes from your family’s year! Come to class ready to feel inspired! We will have samples in class of different options you can do with the inside of your books so don’t forget to bring your camera.

Melissa Frances is known for her awesome mini album bases, and she’s done it again with a brand new pet themed book! The album takes it’s feel from new baby record books, but this one is specially designed for your doggy or kitty. You can record their paw prints, vet visits and when you brought them home. At the start of the workshop, you will be given the choice between a cat, or dog themed album. Then, in class you will add embellishments to make a truly personal book ready for pictures of your pet.

Shabby Flowers Technique

Students will be introduced to a fabulous technique for making dimensional crepe paper flowers using Melissa’s Vintage Crepe paper and a template from the textile industry. See how crepe paper can be substituted for fabric to fantastic results! Students will also decorate a set of 3 stacking oval boxes ( time allowing) using the beautiful “C’est la Vie” collection from Melissa Frances. These boxes may be used to store treasures, decorate a shelf or even as gift presentation boxes. If you do not finish in class don’t worry as we will have color instructions so you can finish later!
Leave class with: dimensional crepe paper flowers and a set of 3 stacking oval boxes (time allowing)
Skill level: All Levels
Supplies: A glue suitable for gluing paper and ribbon (you will need a fast drying glue for this workshop, so Zip Dry is recommended), scissors, x-acto (craft/utility) knife and cutting surface to protect their table, a needle (with a top wide enough for embroidery floss), white or cream embroidery floss (1 – 18inch piece will be enough), a little piece of sandpaper, brown ink for distressing

These cards can be used for Mother’s Day, Thinking of You, Birthday greetings, or Valentines – the choice is up to you! In class we will discuss tips & tricks to achieving a beautifully vintage-shabby look on paper craft projects. Your finished cards are sure to be cherished by those you give them to!
