Our History:
The Great Lakes Mega Meet was founded in late 1999, and continues under the direction of founder Kate Griswold.   The first ever GLMM Scrapbook Convention was held in April 2000 in Hall B of the Novi Expo Center, in Novi, Michigan. In 2001, the GLMM was moved to it’s now traditional Mother’s Day weekend, and into Hall A for more space! Also in 2001, the first Ohio Mega Meet was held in October in Akron, OH. A second Ohio Mega Meet was held in Cincinnati in September 2002. In 2003, the GLMM was moved into Main Hall to accommodate the explosive growth, also in 2003 SMM held it’s first ever Mega Cruise, and it’s first of many Mega Retreats held at resort locations throughout Michigan.   In 2006 the GLMM moved to Novi’s new facility – the Rock Financial Showplace – less than a mile from the former Novi Expo Center!  In 2010, the building was renamed the Suburban Collection Showplace.  In 2014, Scrapbook Mega Meet, LLC celebrated it’s 15th Annual convention in May, and in September, acquired Great! Scrapbook Events, and reorganized under the name Great Lakes Scrapbook Events.  This acquisition added the Birch Run Scrapbooking & Stamping Show held each November, and the Arctic Blast Crop Weekend held each January.  In 2015 and 2018, two more Crop Weekends joined our lineup – Fall Spooktacular in October and then March Madness in March.  In 2019 the GLMM celebrated it’s 20th Anniversary, and we added a new show to our lineup – The Columbus Scrap & Stamp Show.  The pandemic forced a hiatus from all shows in 2020, and forced the postponement of the 2021 GLMM to October.  As a result of the pandemic, GLSE launched a series of Virtual Events that they have branded as VOLUME (Virtual Online Learning Ultimate Mega Events) which they continue even as pandemic restrictions have been lifted.  During the pandemic the Birch Run Expo Center was turned into a Camping World, effectively ending the Birch Run Scrap & Stamp Show.   In 2022 we return to our regularly scheduled shows in Novi and Columbus! We look forward to a bright future, serving Scrapbookers, Stampers and Paper Crafters throughout the Great Lakes region!
