Book Binding 101

Back by popular demand this extremely popular class is sure to please. Using scrapbooking papers and binding tools, you will create a unique mini album. This year we have changed it up a bit and have added ribbon to the binding for a differing look. You will still learn how to make a signature that is a prerequisite to “book binding 102 fabric Album”. Using binders thread and wax you will learn how to tightly bind your papers to make a mini album. You will also learn how to bind tags and other elements, of different sizes. Once you have your book bound you will adorn the cover and 16 pages. (Time permitted) Note there are many options for the inside of the frame on the cover or bring your own photo size 3” wide x 3 ½ “ high. As this class is different than last year, it is a good refresher for anyone that took book binding 101 last year!

Book Binding 102 “ Fabric Album”

Prerequisite Book Binding 101. Now that you have learned to make a signature we are going to take it to the next step. In this anticipated class you will learn how to make two signatures and bind into a spine. Using chipboard and fabric you will make a fabric covered boutique looking book. You will also learn how to dye your seam binding and work with the Melissa Frances ‘Frozen Charlotte” resin to get a porcelain look. This is not your ordinary mini album! This beautiful book will be long cherished and admired for years. This book is perfect for pictures and journaling or use as an art journal for inspiration. We will touch base on this a bit in class. Definition of Frozen Charlotte is a name used to describe a specific form of china doll made from c. 1850 to c. 1920.
